Following their recent trip to Peru artists Kathryn Tilley and Val Parker (Sorelli and Friends), have initiated the festival with the assistance of the Melbourne Peruvian community. All funds raised over the weekend will go to supporting community development projects in Peru, particularly those that support women.
 
“We want this to be a celebration of Peru but also of Peruvian women,” said Kathryn Tilley. “The pictures that form our exhibition were heavily influenced  by the every day roles of women in Peru that we witnessed on our recent trip. Peruvian women are the backbone of their society and we want our work to make a small difference in their lives. That is why funds raised from the Peruvian Festival will go towards Caritas Australia’s programs for women and children in Peru.”
